Credentials

After graduating from the University of Texas with Special Honors in Psychology and completing a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Psychology at St. Mary’s University, Dr. Kampschaefer came to Oklahoma City in 1981 from the innovative Doctor of Psychology program at Baylor University to complete an internship in Clinical Psychology at the O.U. Health Sciences Center.

He has been in the full time practice of psychotherapy since 1983. In 1997 he completed formal training in Psychoanalysis at the Colorado Center for Psychoanalytic Studies. He was the founding President of the Oklahoma Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (OSPS) and is a former President of the American Board and Academy of Psychoanalysis in Psychology, from which he received in 2002 the highest certification available to a psychologist, the ABPP Board Certification.

Dr. Kampschaefer is a member of the American Psychological Association (Division of Psychoanalysis) and the International Psychoanalytic Association. He is also a Personal and Supervising Analyst with the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California (Oklahoma Group) and teaches each year in the Foundation Series sponsored by OSPS in Oklahoma City.
